Estimated Full-Time Cost of Attendance Budgets for Financial Aid Undergraduate and Graduate Students

The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) information listed below is a resource that can be used for students and families when planning and budgeting for a Charter Oak Education. COA budgets do not represent an actual bill and are estimates of projected annual costs.  Actual costs may vary per student based on personal circumstances.

For information regarding tution and fee rates for the current academic year, please visit Charter Oak's tution and fees page.

What is a Cost of Attendance Budget:

Financial aid students are assigned budgets based on their cost of attendance which includes degree applicable credit hours for which a student is enrolled and other educational costs (direct and in-direct expenses).

  • Direct costs include tuition and fees (billable charges).
  • Indirect costs such as books, living expenses, miscellaneous expenses, and transportation are not payable to Charter Oak and, therefore are not billed (charged) to the student. Indirect costs are based on national “averages” of educational expenses. We use College Board data as a resource when constructing annual COA budgets.

The following is a list of annual estimated COA budgets for full-time students who are enrolled in Term 1 and Term 2 classes. Note: Students are billed separatley for each semester (fall, spring, summer). To determine a single semester COA budget, divide the amounts shown below in half.

  • A full-time undergraduate student is one who is enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • A full-time graduate student is one who is enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester.
NOTE: Students who attend on a less-than-full time basis will have their direct and indirect expenses adjusted based on the number of credits for which they are enrolled and payment period start/end dates. WIT and CT Wage Program undergraduate students receive cost-free laptop computers, internet access, and books for Charter Oak courses. Therefore, these costs are not included in their COA budget. For additional information related to tuition and fees, please refer to the official catalog. Before reviewing the information below, please note that estimated costs listed are costs before financial aid is applied.
