Charter Oak State College (COSC) knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This notice describes our privacy policy. By visiting charteroak.edu, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Notice.

How do we collect your information, and what information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you inquire about admission, make a donation to our foundation, subscribe to a newsletter, respond to a survey or otherwise fill out a form or enter information on our website. While completing these activities, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, interests and other details.

We also collect information and interpret user behavior using cookies, small files that are transferred to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow), enabling the College to recognize your browser and capture and remember your browsing behavior on our website. Our web server also logs information such as IP address, date and time of visit, and pages viewed.

By submitting a telephone number to the College, you agree that a representative of the College can contact you at the number you provide, potentially using automated technology (including texts messaging) or a pre-recorded message. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. Your consent is not an obligation to receive any of our products and/or services.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or texting consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

Text Opt-In/Opt-Out Process

When submitting your mobile number to the College you will be able to opt-in or opt-out of receiving college-wide text communications. Consent is not a condition of enrollment.

You may opt-out of text messages at any time by replying STOP or by completing the Opt-In/Opt-Out form in the MyCharterOak portal.

How Secure Is Information About Me?

  • We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.
  • We reveal only the last five digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing.
  • It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.

Remarketing and Advertising
